A character-led onboarding kit that introduces kids with type 1 diabetes to their new daily routine, insulin, glucose monitoring, and care. Through storytelling instead of instructions.
Most diabetes education material for newly diagnosed kids is written for the adults around them, not the kids themselves, clinical, text-heavy, and easy to feel scared by. Talking to families, the gap wasn't information, it was tone: nothing made the daily routine feel normal, let alone friendly.
Glucosmos reframes the routine as a series of missions, guided by a small crew of astronaut characters, one look after glucose monitoring, another the insulin pen, another the care station. Each mission card explains one tool in plain, warm language, so the unfamiliar becomes a small ritual instead of a scary one.
The final kit is a printed box holding mission cards, character stickers, and a dedicated slot for the child's actual glucose monitor, insulin pen and other items needed. Turning real medical tools into part of the same world as the characters. Aswell as the captains logs which is a four chapter book explaingin each proccess through the use of infographics and character ilustrations.
